5/10 at Gold Strike - Tunica

I heard this game announced last time I was there and I was considering playing it this weekend... wondering if anyone has checked it out?

I ran a search and found nothing Tunica-Specifc but the general consensus was that the game played a little tighter because of the 1-2 chip format (fewer chips = less action?). However, some folks commented that the raising was far more aggressive than at 3/6 or 4/8, and that you better bring a nice roll to cover variance.

Anyone have any experience in this game....the level of play?...the aggressiveness...etc?

Lower action games normally have a lot of raising. A plyers raises adn picks up the blinds before the flop. In a standard game (3/6 or 4/8 chip) some passive callers come in and then this mountain of chips encourages chasing. With a structure that doesn't put chips in the pot the players are more willing to fold to the raise to the aware players start raising more. This structure is bad for the casino as this game will not hold together, but if there are enough people willing to hand over their blinds it can be profitable.

I've seen it, but I thought the blinds were 2/5.

I've played the 5/10 at Goldstrike about five times.
It's on the level of 2/4 Party game if you play online, maybe a little tougher. There are no beginners at this game but mostly loose passives with some LAGs and TAGs thrown in. Postflop play always seemed tight passive though. It's much tougher than 3/6 game but plays much faster with no newbies holding things up. It's tougher than Horseshoe 4/8. It's not quite as aggressive/tight as the Horseshoe 10/20 game.

I've played all four games (Horseshoe 4/8, 10/20, and Goldstrike 3/6, 5/10) and there are clear differences in the level of competition as the bet level rises.

Goldstrike 3/6: many beginners, VERY loose and passive, nobody respects your bets/raises, value bet like hell but limit semibluffs. Play average and win money as the absolute beginners with $100-300 to burn will give it all away.

Horseshoe 4/8 - good mix of beginners/rocks/LPs/TAGs. Can throw in more semibluffs, PF raises w/MPs. Tight PF/average postflop play will consistently win money.

Goldstrike 5/10: as above. More PF open raising than limping. Quite a few hands folded to the blinds. Turn bet/raise seems to take quite a few pots. This is the level you can start accurately putting people on hands. Nobody's playing face/rag unsuited here but they will still call down flop raise with middle pair.

Horseshoe 10/20: varies based on day of the week and time. Sometimes loose weak players, sometimes many TAGs or rocks. PF or flop raise won't get respect but CR or three bet does. This is the lowest level I've seen non-maniac bluff check raising or three betting with middle pair

I was just in Tunica 2 weeks ago and sat down at a 5/10 table and it was quite the opposite of what Jaquen said. This was a Saturday night and there were people playing ace rag, some guy called a raise with 72off then called it down with a pair of 2's (to win by the way). There was a guy who called me down with Q high. The level of play while I was there was similar to the .50/1 at party. One guy berated the biggest fish sho continued to play the same way and make fun of me. At a full table, I would say there was 2-3 people who knew exactly what they were doing. The play was pretty much awful and I ended up about 250 for 4 or 5 hours.

My sample is pretty small since thats the only night I played there so maybe it was an oddity.
