Re: AQ first hand of tourney on BB
please do not post the results, because those don't really matter.
I don't raise w/ AQo. I'd CONSIDER limping early. Flop play is fine. You need to dump it on the turn, you've hit an overcard, one person is showing strength. |

Re: AQ first hand of tourney on BB
God knows I don't know anything about flop play, especially with deep stacks. But I'm pretty sure you played this incorrectly. You bet 200 into a 610 flop and someone w/ a overcard + K high flush draw called. He bet 200 on the turn w/ top pair and called the minraise. He hit the K high flush draw on the river and you moved all-in in front of him for 800 into a 2400 pot. If you have a fullhouse (doubtful anyone plays a fullhouse that slow given how coordinated that flop was) as often as 1/3 of the time, he's correct in calling.

Re: AQ first hand of tourney on BB
I definitely bet more on the flop with all those players in (consider 3/4 pot or more). I dump it on the turn, even when getting some good odds to call. It's possible that you're drawing to as little as 1 clean out, since AK could be out based on the preflop action, and the Qs can hurt you pretty badly.

Re: AQ first hand of tourney on BB
so... what your saying is there is no possible way to win this pot without say pushing all in preflop which would be a horrible play. bet more on the flop then just check fold the turn ?

Re: AQ first hand of tourney on BB
You may have gotten him out of the hand if you bet somewhere closer to the pot on the flop.
But in lower level SNGs, some people just won't walk away from a high flush draw no matter what the pot is laying them. Remember, don't complain about their bad play since bad play is what give you chips. Just make sure you're charging the correct price, and in this case I'm pretty sure you didn't. |

Re: AQ first hand of tourney on BB
Agreed, pushing preflop is a terrible play.
In all seriousness, in Party if there was this much preflop action I might consider folding AQo because you're first to act and you're going to have a tough time not losing your shirt to AK if an ace falls. That being said, I think it's a fine CALL with stacks this deep. [ QUOTE ] bet more on the flop then just check fold the turn ? [/ QUOTE ] Yes. On the turn, you have outs but those are highly contaminated. An ace on the river could kill you if a stubborn AK called your meek flop bet. Qs is going to fill in the extremely likely flush draw. In which case, you have two outs which I'd considered clear pushes. The aces are read dependent. The Qs I might call a small bet but I'm definitely not being aggressive with them. |
