Default Kinda shortstacked, but not too short.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (6 handed) converter

CO (t1445)
Button (t1340)
Hero (t625)
BB (t1870)
UTG (t1890)
MP (t830)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG calls t50, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to t250</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, UTG calls t200.

I raised preflop planning to push any flop. Or should I have just pushed preflop? Flame away

If you are planning to push any flop, I would make the PF raise a little bigger - say 350. the limper has a lot of chips, and your current raise is almost certainly going to be called. I think 350 might make him fold a few hands w overs in it...

What were you planning on doing when the flop hit? What your plans for after the flop were would dictate whether this was a good play or not.

If I raised more preflop, then any push postflop will get called.

I push any flop except for a set on a very nondangerous flop.

If you were planning on pushing regardless of the flop, I would have pushed pre-flop. You're spoiling the chance of the set paying you off, but you know the odds on that.

If you were planning on seeing the texture of the flop and either pushing or getting away with still enough chips to make anyone have to have a hand to call the next pre-flop push you make, I think that's okay. A fold post-flop would still leave you with around 8BB at 25/50.

If the blinds were about to go to 50/100 I like that less for obvious reasons.
