Default Hot or Not Score Inflation

I am appalled.

I haven't visited http://www.hotornot.com since middle school, and I remember back then, as far as I was concerned, most of the ratings given were on the low side. Which is okay, as I'd rather have a couple of hot girls with low self-esteem as opposed to a bunch of ugly pigs thinking they're hot [censored].

I was bored tonight and for some reason or another, I went to Hot or Not. Well, things have changed. It is absolutely absurd the ratings that some of the pigs on there are getting. I have been doing my best to cut them down, but I can't do it alone.

This is a problem that needs to be addressed before ugly girls start thinking they're hot sh!t because they got a 7+ on Hot or Not.

When I used to look at that site, I would frequently just put in 10 for everyone, just so that I could see the next picture.

As anyone who scrolls around on HoN for 15+ minutes realizes, a 7 is a pretty bad score. 8 is somewhat decent, 9 is good looking, about 9.5 is hot.

Oh, and the scores are weighted and filtered, it isn't a true average of ratings given.

Displayed scores are higher than the actual scores (mathematical mean of all ratings). This is because low ratings, especially 1's, are weighted less than higher ratings. This is to lessen the impact of people that rate lots of people as a 1. I think 10's are also weighted less for the same reason.

The displayed score is actually a comparison to other members. For example, a score of 8.7 means that you are, roughly, in the 87% percentile when compared to all other HoN members in the same group (ie female 18-25).

The scores are also filtered to not include people who go through and vote 1 for everyone or 10 for everyone (I think).
