The best song ever is American Pie. But we thank you for playing.

Wink, I'll nominate Leaving on a Jet Plane ... the original, not the Armageddon version.

A rock station here in town had a listener determined top 100 rock songs of all times. Freebird finished #1, just ahead of Stairway to Heaven.

Sometimes a song is considered good because well...it's good.

Admit it. You wear thick black buddy-holly glasses and hope to one day marry Janine Garofalo, don't you.

Come on. You don't have to be an indie snob to think that American Pie is not the greatest song ever. It's way too long and gets monotonous pretty quickly. It's a good song, but I'm sure I could think of at least five songs by the Beatles, that most obscure of bands, that I think are better.

Personally, I think it's one of the best songs ever, if not the best. Aparently I wasn't aware that there was some governing body that objectively decided these things and that American Pie had lost the competition.

I didn't get the email.

My bad.

Is there a best book ever I should have read by now?
