Default question about music from the movie hero

in the part where jet li and donnie yen are fighting at the chess place (in the rain), what is the name of that instrument the old blind man is playing? some kind of stringed instrument, iirc.

No, that game is "Go." A game thats many many times more complicated then chess or any other board game.

I may be mistaken, but...

I think go is played on a board with many more spaces/pieces. Also, I believe that in go, pieces are played on corners where lines intersect. That sure looks like othello to me, also commonly called reversi.

God damn it. You guys are right that in GO you put the pieces on the corners, and the board is too small to play GO. But at the same time, I dont believe Othello to have originated in China, especially around the Zhou dynasty which was over 2000 years ago.

So... who knows? Blah...

in the movie it was referred to as "chess" (at least according to the english subtitles). plus it wasn't the point of my post...the instrument was.
