Default Why are facecards called broadway cards?

and which cards exactly are broadway cards? j-k, or ten - ace?

broadway is A-10

Here's my guess. Broadway is usually the name of a big street. In poker, broadway is the name for an ace high straight. Street and straight sound somewhat the same.
Big street=bigstraight.

AKQJT = broadway straight

So any cards in there are broadway cards. Just like A,2,3,4,5 are all wheel cards.
