Return to Oz

It was too dark. Dark isn't always better.

Dorothy going to a mental hospital was over the top. Seeing Munchkinland and Emerald City in ruins didn't help.

The only time the movie get me interested was when the Gnome King revealed the secret to his power.

i can't remember much of the movie at all. i can remember when she's trapped in the room and puts that magic dust on the couch with the moose's head and it comes to live and flies out of there.

also the part near the end where she's in the room and needs to pick the right emerald or something.

oh ya, and the part in the witch's house where she has all those heads in jars. that was creepy.

the memory of those 3 scenes alone makes me want to see the movie again.

You might be someone who would enjoy reading Gregory McGuire's novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.

The title is self-explanatory and starts just before her birth and continues to just after her death. However, it's sort of an upside-down version of Oz where the Witch is on the side of good and the Wizard of Oz is an evil dictator.

I know there were a bunch, but I'm sorta drawing a blank. I remember liking The Brave Little Toaster, though.

Jason and the Argonauts
The Sinbad movies
Robin Hood/ flynn's pirate movies
Classic monster movies.

Wiz of oz was always an annual deal. After awhile, though, it was just to see what they cut out.
