Default Cal Ripken vs My Dad\'s friend

The other post on streaks got me thinking...my dad had a friend who worked for DuPont for 55 years and never missed a single day of work. Is his streak more or less impressive than Cal Ripken's?

Pretty much what I thought. I've never been overly impressed by Ripken's streak. It's not an athletic achievement, it's a feat of durability, and compared to other impressive feats of human durability, it's not really all that great. This example I just pulled off the top of my head, I'm sure there are numerous others that truly blow it away.

not even that when you consider he and the rest of the whiney overpaid crybabies took a year off in the middle of his "streak".

Why would anybody want to work anywhere for 55 years?

Dad's friend, not even close.

No idea why Ripken gets all this unwarranted praise. There are thousands of people like your Dad's friends who do the same damn thing every day, in tougher jobs too. I.E, construction workers.
