Strategy for Satellite STTs

So in early May, a 2+2er at my school is going to organize a $50 tourney and is planning on offering satellite tourneys to get in it.

How should I adjust my play, assuming that only 1st place is going to make it to the bigger tourney? Should I be pushing smaller edges? Be more aggressive early?

Any help is appreciated.
