I'm embarassed to say that I recently capped turn and river in a limit game and only realized that I was betting a pair of fives instead of a straight when I didn't get the pot. (Winner had the straight.)

Default Phantom Gutshot - A Classic

A real piss-off of a tourney hand haunts me from at least 11 years ago. NL, I'm getting short and close to the money.
Me - QQ, MegaFish - T 6

Flop comes J 8 5. I push and MegaFish calls with his 'gut' draw, a play he'd always make in any game, just can't stop himself.

I'd have forgotten this hand if I'd won.

I've seen this mis-read many times since. It takes a huge pigeon to do it.

Win streak continues to 61 total days! I'm getting used to winning. Every damn day. For two months.

Ha. I remember I was playing in a tournament and it went down to the river. It was a big pot, and I went all-in with my straight. He sat there and watched me for 2 or 3 minutes, before saying he was going to lay it down, but would I show?. He was a friend and I didn't mind showing. So he flips over AA for a set of aces.

I flip over 87 for my straight

"Uh...you just bluffed that?"
"No I..." [looks at cards / flop again]
"...yeah. Yeah I did."

He's no longer my friend

SB and UTG should be tied for your new second-favorite player

In a SnG I went all-in heads-up on a straight, only to see the card I need to actually make the striaght hit on the river. My opponent was not happy.

Yeah...I was going to say something like that.

I've mis-read the board before too....but usually figure it out before actually saying in the chat-box "WTF...didn't I have a straight?"

I guess I find this board mis-reads more humorous in a NL-SNG hand....I can just see this guy getting all excited to go all-in.

Regarding Ted Lawson - I couldn't remember that guy's name...but obviously it's reminiscent of that hand.
