Default HU L/B BB differences

Hi,
Blind structure is different in regular HU games as opposed to regular game. HU games S/b has button where as regular game B/B has buton. This seems like a big difference and when you have the BB and the button the number of playable hand goes up alot. I am not that experienced in short handed so Im not sure how big a difference. Also, I am using the Poker Center chart and trying to play hands that have a better than 50% chance according to their POT EQUITY CHART. Now I think that in a regular game this will work because you have BB and Button but in a straight HU game where you have to call 1 1/2 bets to have the button you will need higher %s.
Is this thinking way off line? and how would experienced players adjust.
I realize the opponent's playing style is most important but in gerenal how do you proceed.
Thanks in advance, tom
