Default Fold the turn?

Gaming club 4/8 table consists of calling stations.

I raise UTG with 99 4 callers

Flop J 7 8 Rainbow
I bet everyone calls.

Turn J
I check mp bets button calls everyone else folds back to me, whats my play?

Should I have led the turn and folded to a raise? If I bet the turn and am smooth called whats the plan for the river?

I question leading the flop into 4 other players in a large pot with one overcard to your pocket pair on the board. The pot is too big on the flop to protect your hand with a leading flop bet.

I’d check the flop then:

Either #1. checkraise a late position better to make the field call 2 cold.

Or #2. call if early position player raises and others call, looking for a 9 or T on the turn.

I can't think of a better turn card for you. I lead the turn again. Call if raised.

Dude, you seriously have to bet that turn. It's VERY likely that you have the best hand.
