Default Strategy for a STT home game

A friend of mine e-mailed me for advice. He's been invited to a home game STT. 4-5 players most likely, $10 buy in, 2nd place gets his $10 back, winner takes the rest.

He says the blinds double after each player is eliminated..not sure about the initial level in relation to chip stack yet. No info on the skill of the other players.

Any thoughts on how to best play this ?

As far as optimal strategy the only money is for first and he will be playing shorthanded the entire time so playing very aggressive and taking chances is what I would do
