Default Poker: From $0 To Paying For My Entire College Education

My Poker Blog

This is my full account of starting small and paying for my entire college education. Here I'll be keeping track of all my sessions, my current bankroll, thoughts, emotions and questions. Feel free to stop by from time to time and catch up on my progress. Don't forget to leave comments if you have any. Thanks a lot

Going forum to forum posting your spam is lame.

It should read, "this is my full account of how I went broke and had to drop out of college when I learned that poker was not that easy."

Not only is it spam, but it's *extraordinarily* naive spam. I mean, good luck and everything, but seriously - *do not bank on it*. Lots of people have been playing for years and still struggle. "Minutes to learn, a lifetime to master."

Also, I think that reading these forums, rather than posting spam in them, is really the way to go if you're serious about getting better. Not only will it make you a better player, it will also engender *far* less scrutiny. Which, you'll find, is available in abundance, while goodwill often is not. I haven't posted too much, but I've read a *ton* (both in the forums and in books), and I've played for years, and there's no way I'd ever post that on here.

Again, though, good luck...I hope you succeed.

-jake.

Well to those of you who tell me not to spam, how else would you approach getting people to see the site?

Step one, don't post it in a forum full of people who don't care

You can make up the rest of the steps yourself

Put it in your profile. If you say something that is intelligent enough to grab someone's attention, they'll check your profile out, find your web log, and want to see it because they'll want to learn more of your wisdom... problem is, there are a lot of people who think they know what they're talking about, but on this site, until you've earned others respect by showing your ability in analyzing forems, posts, and situations, you're just wasting their time.

If you can't figure out not to post the same thing on every forum, you may have difficulty figuring out more complex problems, like playing poker.

There is a Beginners forum here. When in doubt, ask a question there first.

Did you think that you were the first person in the world with a poker blog? There are lots of people here with blogs and websites. Spend some time on the forums and see how they do it. Learn first, act later. Then apply the same lesson to poker.

That was an excellect suggestion.

The other thing that I forgot to mention in that other post is that if you're under 21, it's not a good idea to bring attention to your poker playing, as it is most likely illegal. Everybody knows someone who paid their way through college playing cards, but I doubt that any of them flaunted their being under age while they were doing it. I know my friend didn't. Your blog is traceable to you, your posts on this site are almost certainly traceable to you, and any casino you walk into will be *very* upset with you if you're found out (and you don't want to be on a casino's bad side). If you're found out online, they (depending on the site) might kill your account and keep your money - after all, they're often quasi-legal offshore corporations who are really not accountable to anyone.

3 hours later and 300 dollars up, I was pretty sure I'd be going pro before too long.

First blog entry and I already don't wanna read anymore. Good luck man, but thinking you're gonna turn pro after getting good cards for a few hours is ignorant. You obviously haven't been playing long enough to see the big variances when you're playing online.
