Default Trying to buy the best Poker Computer - Please help

I am not that great with computers, bit i am buying a new one. It will be used for poker, running pokertracker, listening to music and browsing the internet. Is this what i want? What should I add, or what can i get rid of to make the computer cheaper?

(i know (think) the price is a rip off, but i will get it when deal is running some good specials or maybe you could point me in the right direction.
Thanks

Well first off, you don't want a Precision. I would suggest the Dimension series. The Dimension 4700 would be fine. I would suggest a 3.2GHz cpu, 1GB ram, 80GB hard drive, and a DVD burner if you want or at least a combo drive.

And lastly, if you purchase it soon (as in today), use this coupon code for $500 off the base price: XG1QJPXFCGPLB2

Watch this place for more Dell deals: http://www.gottadeal.com/dell.php

Oh, and if you want get a bigger hard drive of course. 80GB is fairly small by today's standards.

thanks for your help, maybe i will order it today and only get one monitor since they are expensive and pick up the other later.

Whats the diffence between Precision and Dimension series. The Dimension 4700 would be fine.

The Precision series are workstations usually equipped with some nice 3D cards to do things like CAD and video editing. The Dimension is more for home users.

I forgot to say this but if you want more than one monitor you will need to upgrade the video card in the Dell screen. The Dimension 4700 lets you upgrade to the ATI X300 and the GeForce 6800. The 6800 will be a lot better for the newer games out there but if you don't play them this isn't an issue.

Also, Digital Tigers has some very nice computers but they will be more expensive than the Dell.

Hmmm... I use an old HP VEctra 333 MHz. Multitable (4) PokerStars just fine. Paradise is the only site I've used so far that is slooooow, I can only single table there...

I'm not trying to say don't buy the fastest computer you can afford (go for it), but you don't *need* much.

Now, running Pokertracker, imports take forever but otherwise it seems to work fine on about a 10K hand database.

If that is all you really don't need much. Get an old 1,000 ghz, hopped up on ram and give er. You'll want the bare minimum of windows crap on it if you can. You shouldn't have to spend even 1k.
