Default Was this AQs call and flop raise ok?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 5 handed) converter

SB ($45.95)
BB ($10.55)
UTG ($68.44)
Hero ($38.25)
Button ($51.3)

Preflop: Hero is MP with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
UTG raises to $3, Hero calls $3, 3 folds.

Flop: ($6.75) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG bets $3, Hero raises to $8, UTG folds.

Final Pot: $17.75

Results in white below:
No showdown. Hero wins $17.75.

These are the notes I took on the villain with my 20 mins of play:

"Makes pot-size bet on flop with mid-pair when in late position. Does not respect raises. Min-raises with AXs"

Was this properly played? Should I have waited to raise him and allowed him to bluff perhaps?

EDIT: I know nothing much happened on this hand. But I end up getting confused with little things and start doubting my choices.

Raise way more. His weak lead is most likely an AK that missed or a scared JJ, but he could easily have a couple diamonds in his hand (AJ[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], AK[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]).

Also, that is a pretty huge PF raise, and I would probably fold this without any good reads, unless you know he will raise that much without AK/AA/KK/QQ, which you have nothing about in your notes.
