Extracting the most with your image
**Disclaimer. I play weird. Do not take my approach in these hands without careful reads of the opponents**
So far at this table I have an imposing image. I'm playing aggressively with marginal hands, and the table knows it. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (5 handed) converter saw flop|saw showdown BB ($76.30) Hero ($117.85) MP ($26.70) Button ($21.50) SB ($73.15) Preflop: Hero is UTG with 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Hero calls $1, 2 folds, SB completes, BB checks. Flop: ($3) K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, BB bets $3, Hero raises to $10, SB folds, BB raises to $17, Hero raises to $116.85, BB calls $58.30 (All-In). Turn: ($195.15) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in) River: ($195.15) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in) Final Pot: $195.15 Results in white below: BB has Kc Js (two pair, kings and fours). Hero has 7d 3d (flush, king high). Outcome: Hero wins $195.15. This is the hazard you face when a player takes your image into consideration. Had I been a solid TAG player in this 5 handed game I would not have gotten that call. Oohs and ahhs serenade the hand. The very next hand is dealt: PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (5 handed) converter saw flop|saw showdown Hero ($193.15) BB ($26.70) UTG ($21.50) MP ($50) Button ($72.15) Preflop: Hero is SB with 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. MP posts a blind of $1. 1 fold, MP (poster) checks, Button raises to $2, Hero calls $1.50, 1 fold, MP calls $1. Flop: ($7) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero bets $5, MP folds, Button raises to $15, Hero raises to $191.15, Button calls $55.15 (All-In). Turn: ($268.30) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in) River: ($268.30) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in) Final Pot: $268.30 Results in white below: Hero has 4s Qs (flush, queen high). Button has Ac Jd (two pair, jacks and threes). Outcome: Hero wins $268.30. My image was set, and when I had a kick-ass hand I played it the same way as my drunken-monkey approach earlier with bottom pair + flush draw. This delves into metagame, but this is a tactic I love using in shorthanded and loosish games. Yes, I will lose sometimes, but my big hands get paid off in spades. Sort of like a pee-wee league version of Spirit Rock. |

Re: Extracting the most with your image
Preflop is whatever, but if I find myself in that situation on the flop, I play it the same way. I think both flops are pretty standard.

Re: Extracting the most with your image
Poker isnt a ame about figuring out how your opponents are playing, it is a game of figuring out how your opponents think you are playing.
Layne Flack said this once and I read this in Cardplayer. I think its one of the best advice ive ever read on poker. |

Re: Extracting the most with your image
At 25 tables ....perhaps 50...
Once you get to real games it matters immensly. |
