Default Hello! Take Free Card Or Drive 6th?? Hmmm...

########MICRO LIMITS#####.25/.50 7STUD
OPPO. (X,X) Y1 Y1 Y2 Y2 (2 small Prs.) completely live
BULL (7,Xs) 7s U Ps Ts (Live ranks;4- Flush ,live)

When OPPO. bet 4th,the Bull called.
On 5th,OPPO. checked and the Bull picked up the ball and drove it--sensing his OPPO. was weak.
OPPO. CHECKS best hand on 6th--2 live pairs.
Should the Bull take a free card or continue to drive---Bull knows that OPPO. will not drop 2 pairs.
Hmmm
Just wondering,

Hi SittingBull,

I ran a few simulations at twodimes, and it’s basically a coin flip; so it doesn’t really matter if you bet or not, mathematically. But you might as well bet to give your opponent a hard time

You don't have a hand history? greenage has a lovely converter program.

This looks like a coin flip, but I think I take the free card. If the other guy is sandbagging, you save a bet. Also, if he happens to have some other draw working, you're a bit of a dog. If nothing else, by checking, you more or less eliminate the danger of being check-raised on the river by a typical opponent, and if you improve on the river, I think that you'll want to value bet.

Default Hello,Roland,Andy! I followed Roland\'s idea and continued to..

drive 6th Str. Even tho my OPPO. showed 2 Prs.,there is NO reason for him to be deceptive on 6th. I read him for 2 two exposed Prs. Although he had the best hand,he is about a 10 to 1 dog on filling. Since my handed was "loaded"--that is,more than 5 outs that would most likely beat him---I drove 6th Str. and my Oppo. called. I then was planning on checking / folding 7th with NO improvement since my Oppo. would call a bluff on 7th.
However,I connected with a flush , continued to drive it in and my oppo. reluctantly made a crying call.

Default Hello,Andy! The reason my post is so flimsy is that...

I can't remember anything. There is NO way I could EVER remember any history.
BTW,who/waht is "greenage"?? Explain "Hand Converter"--what's its function, waht it does, how it works, where can I obtain access to it,etc.
Thanks for all info!

Larry,

I have the impression that this hand was played on-line. If that is the case, then most sites will supply you with hand histories if you request them. greenage is a frequent poster on this forum who has created a handy little program that converts these hand histories to something a little more readable. If you click on greenage's profile, you'll find a link to the converter. There are also some recent threads discussing the converter.

Default Free cards are your friend

Hi Bull,

I appreciate your super agro approach here, and it might actually work vs. someone who is capable of throwing away 2 pair on 6th or the river if you bet twice. But as you mentioned (and we all know) no one is going to let go of 2 pair on any st. at these limits. Also, even if he has no reason to be deceptive, he also has no reason to not bet here with his menacing board...if he is dumb enough to check call with 2 open pair on 5th and 6th, then he is dumb enough to slow play trips on 5th and a FH on 6th (or even just playing super passive with a pocket pair above 7s). It is a big mistake to assume your opponent is going to make the right play at all times...even if the right play is obvious. Why increase your varience when all you have is a coin flip situation? Take advantage of your good position, take the free card, put the money in the pot when you have the best hand, and save money when you don't draw out.

Regards,
Carlos

Default Hello,Carlos! Your advice is excellent for MID-LIMITS and ABOVE

However,at the MICRO-LIMITS,players USUALLY have what they represent. Hence,I believe that I had an excellent read on my oppo.
The free-card idea is OK,too. However,my hand was "loaded" and I was therefore betting for value--EVEN if I were slightly behind. I would NOT have bluffed on 7th had I NOT improved.
