He knows the strategy but doesn't care enough to count. That being said he wanted me to get some feedback here about good books. any opinions?

Also, he just bought Powerful Profit$ by Victor Royer, Piece of garbage? good?

Then what is he looking for? And isn't it impossible to beat BJ without counting or bonuses?

No arguement here. I've made it clear to him that he can't win w/o counting. 60 year old men don't listen to sh!t! bottom line he plays for fun with money he can afford to lose, but he would like to do better (lose less) without working as hard as counting.

Hahaha, tell him to get one of those Basic Strategy cards at the casino. Also, Sklansky Talks Blackjack has the Basic Strategy in it, with some other things like counting, table selection, etc....Your paps has to know that casinos wouldn't be in business if blackjack was beatable by everyone that knew basic strategy.

Yeah, playing blackjack for fun and still wanting to be profitable at isn't going to work for people who don't learn to count cards-- which isn't extremely fun, actually, anyway.

Basic strategy will do him fine. You can find basic strategy in all kinds of cheap books you'll find anywhere. It will reduce the house's advantage over your dad to 1 to 2% depending on the variation of blackjack played. So he'll lose a buck or two for each hundred he wagers, on average.

Go to this site, and get the BS for the exact game he plays.

If he's not going to count, books aren't really going to help. A book might actually hurt him, if he happens to stumble on some sort of progression nonsense.

Comp City by Max Rubin might be of some help to him. It'll help teach him the comp game.
