80/20 opponent. Don\'t play like this.
Rant on.
I was in an online 5/10 game earleir, and one of the opponents was seeing just short of 80 percent of the flops, and raising preflop just over 20 percent of the time. If he saw the flop regardless of whether or not he had any piece of it, he always took a stab at the pot postflop. This action happened alot. SLAG(superlag) open raises. Two players coldcall. They know he could have anything, and are playing loose to try and beat him. Flop - SLAG bets, call, button raises, SLAG three bets, all call. Why you would try for a free card against this type of player, I can't imagine. Turn. SLAG bets, one fold, one call. River SLAG bets, one fold. It was ok with me, because the SLAG was on my right, and he kept winning money from them, and I won it from him. But, it really bothered me from a strategic point of view. If you know that this player is going to bet or raise on every street, this is going to be an expensive pot to play. You should know that going in. Before you enter the pot, you should be thinking about whether or not you are willing to show your hand down unimproved, and if you aren't willing, then you shouldn't be playing once the maniac is in. Maybe the pot becomes multiway, or the board is so ugly, that you can't show your hand down. (Pocket 8s with a KKT99 board). But that should be your plan as soon as you see the flop. Rant off. Thank you. |

Nice post Bob.
Nice seat too. I love games like this especially in your seat but get ready for major swings. |

Re: 80/20 opponent. Don\'t play like this.
Had the exat thing happen at a 2/4 table last night. 1 player was 80/60
I sat and watched over and over players staying in capped pots PF and flop and then fold for 1 bet on the river. Their play was as bad as the maniacs. |
