Default Question about playing with a kill button

I recently sat down and an O8 game in a casino for the first time and discovered that they were playing with a kill button. I thought about it for a while and decided that this should have basically no effect on my strategy. Am I missing something here? Why do people like to play with a kill?

You'll want to keep enough bets on the table to play killed pots but otherwise I haven't noticed much change in play. Since it kills on a scoop, not much else is going to change strategy wise unless people play significantly different in a Kill pot. In my local experience they don't.

I love kill games. It gets people to chase, chase, chase. There is one point. Having to post the kill blind poses a small disadvantage. So, if you have a 50/50 decsision that is either a scoop or a loss, you should fold. Becuase if you win, you will have the disadvantage of posting the kill blind. This is very minimal, though.

The pot would have to be pretty darn small.

Did you mean if you have a fair odds chance of having the best hand, you should fold.

That's probably true, though I think more along the line of taking some portion of a BB out of the pot and re-evaluating. In the heat of the moment I wouldn't even think about it though, but heck it's definetly is an issue isn't it.

Good point.

Once you have posted the kill however, you will also then have the advantage of getting a free play in a bigger than normal pot, so this entire effect is real but very small.
