Help me build a kickass gaming desktop
I'm looking to spend up to $1500 on a computer that'll essentially do nothing but run games and torrent stuff.
I don't need a monitor because I already have a 2001fp. I also don't need a cd/dvd burner because my roomate has one. I'm not good at these things, shock of shocks, so help me do whatever it takes to get me to run new games fast. |

Re: Help me build a kickass gaming desktop
AMD is the way to go for CPU's.
Athlon XP 3200+ Barton CPU 2 x 512MB OCZ PC3200 EL Dual Channel DIMMs 2-2-2-10 ASUS nForce2 Motherboard Socket-939 Athlon 64 CPUs 2 x 512MB OCZ PC3200 EL Dual Channel DIMMs 2-2-2-10 NVIDIA nForce4 Reference Motherboard and MSI K8N-Neo2 are both decent choices. Those aren't mine those are anandtechs. More later Also the 9800 is out dated: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2381 http://www.anandtech.com/video/showd...i=2297&p=1 It's still a nice video card though. More later, I need sleep. |

What I would go with, for what it's worth:
Motherboard $185 Memory (get two for 4 sticks) $184 CPU $267 Hard Drive 1 $175 Hard Drive 2 $158 Graphics card $305 Total: $1274 before shipping, power supply, case, and cooling solutions. |
