Default please read please help!

so, I've been reading a lot of material over the past few months all are beginner's books;
Winning guide to Texas hold'em: Ken Warren
Hold'em poker: Sklansky
Small Stakes: Sklansky, Malmuth, Miller
Hold'em excellence: Krieger
and in addition I play regularly with Turbo Texas Hold'em V5.0 on my computer at least a couple hours a day. and I try to go to the local casino once a week. I'm playing 2/4 hold'em and losing consistently. I don't get it, I've read the appropriate material and studied it enthusiastically along with hours of practice; on the internet, on the computer, w/ friends, at the casino but every time I do win it seems that its because I nailed that one pot just about when I was going to leave. I am dependent on the cards (strong ones that is) to push me into the profit margin. I am about to back away from poker, I'm almost $600 in the hole (running count) and its frustratring that I can't control the environment that I'm playing in. I love playing though, I just can't get enough of it. I love the math part of it, so exciting and stimulating but I always lose (pot odds and implied odds are two of the most intriguing things I've ever delt with)!! I need some encouragement and results soon or I'll have no choice but to abandon this new hobby that has cost me so much recently. what makes it even more frustrating is that I know people who consistently win and haven't read or studied at all, but I don't know them well enough to ask advice or watch them play (I really don't think they'd be willing to assist anyway). so please help!!!! Reading material, practice habits, whatever it takes please tell me!!! thanks a bunch!
-Brent

I would suggest rereading SSHE and forcing yourself to adhere strictly to the preflop charts in the book. From there work on improving your postflop game by reading every post in the SS forum and responding with questions as often as you can (do this instead of posting your own hands). This should get you on the right track.

600$ is nothing... you might just be getting unlucky. its takes a long long time to get to the long run.

just check out the link below to get an idea of how long a
player can run bad

Random thoughts...

Go learn at Pacific. The nano-limit tables are a cheap way to go. You can lose all day long for pennies. Plus, really, really soft.

Get poker tracker. Look for expensive leaks. Did wonders for me. I was playing 45% of the hands and it felt like 20%! I was leaking all over the floor. "Hemoraging money" as ssh says.

Good luck.
