Default simple, maybe drunk odds question

lets say $300 in the pot, your heads up.. you need 4 to 1 on the money to make the call...

player bets $100 into you, does this $100 now count towards the pot? so now you call $100 to win $400, thus having 4 to 1 on your money

if someone could get more into this on detail, not the concept but the positioning, and what's considered to be in the pot it be appreciated

His $100 counts towards the pot, obviously, since you are going to win it if you win.

The $100 you put in, however, does not. So say there was $300 in the pot from previous betting rounds. Now your opponent bets $100. You are getting 4:1 on the call, so you can make it.
