I\'ve got about one year left!
At 50 a man can be an ass without being an optimist but not an optimist without being an ass. -Mark Twain

The way I see it, a 50 year old ass can still LGPG if he/she is an optimist. Happy Birthday Zeno. xxoo Babe

Re: I\'ve got about one year left!
Well, I turn 50 (hopefully ) in February. (I think Mason is close too.) My Chinese friends born in 1953 already call themselves 50; since you begin your second year on your first birthday, they call themselves 2 on that year, so they're, by their reckoning, a year older than we say.
Beginning my sixth decade next year, I remain, for no reason that I can determine, an optimist and, for a lot of reasons that I can determine, most definitely an ass. |

Re: I\'ve got about one year left!
Well, my birthday (49th) was actually about a month ago but your sentiment is very my appreciated, Thank you!
And I still got game at almost half-a-century, ass or no ass. I will have to work on the optimist part though. Andy Fox is ahead of me in that department. -Zeno |

Re: I\'ve got about one year left!
My hand reading has been good lately. I knew you would respond. (I knew we were close in age), and your response is, as usual, informative and witty. You need to remain an optimist if only in counterpoint to my "philosophical cynicism". And I think the older we get the less we worry about something so trivial as being an ass.
-Zeno P.S. I am listening to "The Best of Louis Armstrong". I guess I am getting old. So what? |

Re: I\'ve got about one year left!
Andy,
Unlike your Chinese friends, I intend to hold onto my forties as long as possible, so even though I was born in 1953, I will wait until 7:04 pm on October 20, 2003 before making the concession. By the way, if anyone's curious, my shirt size is 15 1/2, 32-33. John |

Re: I\'ve got about one year left!
Gave my shirt size and posted as "Anonymous." Think I'll go with Andy's Chinese friends: okay, I'm 50 (almost.)

Re: I\'ve got about one year left!
Well, actually both. Born Feburary 16, 1953, my first decade would have ended February 15, 1963, and my second begun on February 16, 1963.
Math's never been my forte, but I think this is right, no? |
