I think a better option here is to call. If you hit the river, procede to play strong. If he checks the river and you do not hit, I would go ahead and bet about 3/4 the pot and you will probably take it down. If he bets the river, its safe to fold.

simply calling and then missing leaves me with about 1500 or 10x BB. i would be very shortstacked, and in a satellite that only pays top 2, and really only 1st is worthwhile, i think i need to get chips here
