preflop question about A2xx
what is the general consesus on playing a naked A2. I typically always play them when I can get in cheaply, but the the word "always" tends to not be a good thing in poker. In what situations, if any, should I find myself folding a bad A2? Also what effect does being single suited (to the ace) have on these requirements?

Re: preflop question about A2xx
Cappelletti and Zee each mention in their respective books that you'll sometimes want to fold A2 + nothing to a raise preflop. I believe Cappelletti says this is most appropriate when you know someone else also has an A2, e.g. if they only raise preflop with A2.

Re: preflop question about A2xx
In early position in a tight game I'll muck the very worst A2xx hands like: A289 rainbow, A229 rainbow, A279 rainbow, A27Q rainbow, etc. I'll also muck A weak A2xx hand if a player raises ahead of me who is certain to have a better A2xx hand in a small pot. I don't think you should ever throw away a hand that contains A2xx with a suited ace, except for possibly a few situation when it is 3 or 4 bets to you.

Re: preflop question about A2xx
I would rather play an A3 hand like AAK3 as opposed to a hand like A26J rainbow. just because you have an A2 doesn't mean you are going to get half of the pot.
