Party and skins freezing up problem.

So I've been having this problem starting a few months back:

After running Party for an hour or so, my harddrive would rev up like it is crunching something, then Party software will freeze. It is easy enough to kill the client and starting again, and usually I can get this done even before the all-in protection kicks in, but an hour or so later it would do this again. As it is starting to get annoying, I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with this and possible fixes? If tried turning down sound and even graphics, but still happening.

Running Win2k on an AMD 2800+, NVidia GForce 6800 and 1GB RAM, if this info is pertinent.

I had this problem up until yesterday. I found I had a heap of temporary files that even Disk Cleanup couldn't remove, and couldn't be deleted in Explorer, so I had to boot into DOS and delete them manually. I'd suggest running Disk Cleanup, hopefully it will fix the prob.

Edit: Defragging your HD probably wouldn't hurt either.
