Default Rate of Play

A home Poker question on breaking down tables got me thinking about how the rate of play can effect strategy.

For example say you are in a multi-table tournament and 1 table due to more LAG players is loosing players faster than the others. To keep the tables balanced in players new players keep moving in from the other tables. Therefore the faster paced table will have more total money and higher average stacks.

Has there been any discussion on the benefits of sitting at a faster table and perhaps encouraging faster play?
