Worst play ever
Pacific Poker NL50 - .25 .50 blinds 10 max
HERO(47) - BB w/ 33 VILLIAN(234.82) - MP1 I've only been at the table for maybe a rotation or two. Villian has been extremely aggressive and is pushing around the entire table. UTG calls,UTG+1 folds,MP1 raise to $4,folded around,Hero calls,UTG folds flop: 4h2d5c Hero checks,Villian bets $2,Hero raises to $10.81,Villian raises to $19.62,Hero pushes, Villian calls. My thinking here is that Villian has either AA,KK,AK,AQ,QQ, or JJ. I'm a huge dog to AA but way ahead of AK,AQ and have 10 outs against KK,QQ, or JJ. What do you think of this line? |

Re: Worst play ever
Call the flop bet. Once you catch your straight, let him bet into you and then get all-in on the river.

Re: Worst play ever
Well, there is some nasty variance with plays like this. You seem to know your chances against the range of hands. I am doubting you are a favorite, but you certainly have shown that you won't be pushed around by the villain.

Re: Worst play ever
I like this line better. He is giving you a damn cheap price to hit your straight. Take it and run.

Re: Worst play ever
I thought about that but was worried that if the Ace hit on the turn, he might be able to get away from KK-TT. He was very aggressive but not stupidly aggressive. JMO

Re: Worst play ever
I'm not sure you're logic is good. By re-raising, you are not going to force out AA, KK, QQ or JJ, but rather are more likely to get all in on the flop (unless you know they will lay this down to what looks like it could be a set).
Re-raising will probably get AK or AQ to fold every time. Even if they only fold about 50% of the time I think youre equity is no good. |

Re: Worst play ever
You know I didn't even think about it that way. That is a very good point.
