Default TT set hand, missed value

Party Poker Pot-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (10 handed) converter

Button ($8.5)

MP3 ($26.65)
CO ($14.55)

Preflop: Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.25. MP1 posts a blind of $0.5.

Final Pot: $34.25

i went with the weak lead, hoping to pick up some calls from the dead money between me and the PF raiser. he sort of foiled my plan by only min-raising me. maybe i should have expected that because, although he was decent, he played pretty weak tight.

i think my correct play here would have been to call and go for a check-raise on the turn. then it would have been so obvious that i hit my set.

after this hand in the chat box:
me: AK?
him: AQ
him: TT?
me: yes

Make a real bet and it will disguise your hand better. The mini-raise here is a feeler bet, so in this situation once I've gotten myself into that (by not making a real bet) I do a stop and go, making about a half to two thirds pot bet on the flop and then pound the river if he is still around.

so you're saying the "weak lead" is too fancy a play?

Not too fancy, just not needed here. The weak bet certainly looks suspicious and his suspicions are confirmed after the reraise. I'm saying that calling the raise and then leading the turn/flop would be best.

I think you should just call the raise and C/R the turn. It is player dependent, and this guy obviously could drop TPGK with no problem, so your huge raise is lost value here. You are way way ahead here or way way behind AA so just call and play it like you have AJ.

The post-hand chat should have gone like this:

you: AK?
him: AQ
you: me too. how funny is that?

yep. Don't tell him what you have unless you guys are friends or something.

I had J Q when the board had 7 8 9 T on it. I put villain all-in on the river since I had the nuts and figured him for a Jack as well. He folded and asked what I had. I told him J 5 . He got very angry for folding a $30 pot since he had the exact same hand.

Don't reraise his minraise. He's drawing so, so, so slim. Let him hang himself on later streets.
