Default Minraise bluff

I don't have the hand history but the stack sizes don't need to be super-exact for this question.
Blinds are at 50/100, and we're ITM.
I have 2800 on the Button, SB has 3600 and BB is the shorty with 1600.
I make it 300 preflop with A6o. SB calls, BB folds. Pot = 700.
Flop comes T42 rainbow. SB bets out 500. I min-raised to 1000, what do you guys think?

i hate it, this is a spot where the minraise usually looks weak, and the sb called you pre and is now betting out, A6o was a missed steal, why commit so many chips?

Really tough to say. I'd generally just fold in such situations, but if you have some kind of read or feeling, I don't think it's terrible (Although I'd probably move allin if I intended to bluff, as there are probably a lot of hands that will bet 500 and fold to an allin, yet will call for 500 more on the flop.)

It doesnt work here, and its a #chips issue.

The minraise is effective as a setup to a bigger bet, i find. Its not enough to serve a puropse by itself. It wont make SB fold a ten, or mid PP. What it does, is change the momentum in the betting back to you. You've showed some aggression, and can now come big at him on 4th street. THATS the convincing bluff-bet, and where you can put big pressure on villian.

But in this situation, the flop min-raise has built (if called), a t2700 pot. To which you can only push t1500. If he has a pair, you have committed suicide. You will be called, he has 3:1 odds.

Interestingly, if the pot hadnt been raised preflop, villian leads out for less chips (200 or 300 only), and your minraise can work then. You still have about t1700, but the pot is only t1500. Now thats the bluff.

Can you post the actual results of the hand, ilya?
