Am I an idiot for pushing with 99 3-handed?
$25NL @ PP.
I'm on the button 3-handed with pocket 9s. I raised to $2.00 to open. The big blind (VPIP~40% & PFR~11%) min-raises me. I (pretending to be a third-level thinker) think he thinks I am on a steal and figure my hand is best, so I push $25. Comments are appreciated. |

Re: Am I an idiot for pushing with 99 3-handed?
3 handed is so dependent on reads. Only you would know, since only you were there. You are probably a coin flip, though, so a push isn't teribble. And it will avoid someone with Ax x<9 getting a cheap look at an ace high flop.

I think your running a race. Beyond that, it just depends on whether you are the kind of player who likes to take those races. =)

Re: Am I an idiot for pushing with 99 3-handed?
If I know I am running a race headsup against two overcards, I will do it 7 days a week and twice on Sunday in a cash game. Push every edge, no matter how small, right?

Absolutely correct but it is niave to presume this is the case. You are 'likely' in a race, but the times you are dominated may or may not make up for your slight edge.
