Note, I cannot lose very much here if my opponents hit a miracle card due to their stack size. I felt it was pretty unlikely they even had a pair, and was hoping they would draw to overcards. At the same time I didn't want them to draw to 2 pair too cheaply.

Why is making a "real bet" superior here? There are no draws to protect against.

"real bets" = more money

Yes, it is a draw free board on the flop, and the underbet there is fine. On the turn, it is still pretty draw free as I doubt someone was looking for that backdoor heart flush. But you do want to make money with this hand, and if you are beaten, he will tell you at some point with a raise, especially on such a draw-free board. No one will call you down with a set or two pair without at least making a raise somewhere along the way.

As a side note, and granted possibly not at this level, but smart players will recognize PF raise + tiny flop bet as a monster. Everyone expects the PF raiser to bet, so bet it like a missed AK and if you get action, you will get action. JMO, though.

I don't mind it if you are trying to build a pot when you have position. But with players to act behind you, making a legit bet (1/2 pot minimum) is a must IMO. On the turn you definetly have to bet bigger than 1/4 pot.

[/ QUOTE ] If he hits and you call his all-in, this will be a $7.50 pot appoximately, which is 3/4 buy-in. If that is not "very much", then I am missing something. One pair is just too little to slowplay. Just bet at least 1/2 pot on turn. You are going to pay him off if he makes a hand, so you should make him pay you something to try to hit his hand. Betting this small on the turn is a losing play.
