do you have any reads?

Would this guy call a raise with a 7 in his hand?
A lot of people wouldn't. If he did oh well. The only "reasonable" hands you need to be worried about on that flop is someone playing the suited connectors for a raise...which is generally not real solid poker given his odds and his short stack. I think you go ahead and throw a raise in on the river and get the last of his money as your two pair with best kicker probably beats his QJ or KQ here.

I'm not sure about raising PF with AQo in early middle pos. I struggle with it myself. I guess it depends on the table.
On the flop, i'd raise more. Since your raised PF, nobody is likely to have a 7.
I think your check on the turn is fine. His 1$ bet into a 3$ pot isn't too convincing. So maybe i'd raise to 4$ here and see what he does.
At this point, i'd say he could be holding anything, from any Q to any 7 to pocket T's or maybe even KTo or something.
If he really wants to see the river, checking is fine, and calling his 2/5 pot size bet is fine also IMO. Only thing that could beat you here is a 7 or pocket T's or 8's, but he sure wasn't betting like he was holding any of those.

I think your play looks OK. When the whole table is fairly short stacked like this it can be tough to make plays. You become committed more quickly than you may realize in the early betting rounds.

With deeper stacks I check/call or check/fold the river depending on the quality of my opponent and the size of their bet.

A good case can be made to limp pre-flop, but I also sometimes make that raise.

If you're going to bet the flop, I think you've got to bet the pot. Or, if you have a read on the button, check-raise is even better.

My standard flop bets are 1/2 pot if it's a drawless board, full pot if it is draw heavy.

Whether he won or lost... I think this hand demonstrates why limping would be bad.

If you raise preflop and narrow the field, the odds of someone calling a hand with a 7 in it drop dramatically (assume the entire table isn't idiotic). When the flop comes Q77, he can feel more confident that the opponent(s) aren't likely to have the 7.

I can't tell you the number of times I've limped with AQ or the like... seen a flop of 44Q, and the BB bets... I have to fold because I limped and let the see a flop with his 4-9os for free.

Default A few more comments.

When he called my flop bet, I think everyone can agree it's impossible he's drawing. Now, I definitely do not want to play a big pot here, with Top Pair on a paired board, so on the turn I decided I was either way ahead or way behind. If he checked behind me on turn I would probably value bet the river.

Had I limped in I'm probably check folding the turn.

Default Results :

Sometimes on the river, I'll say to myself "I'll pay x amount, no more". In this case it was exactly $2. If he had bet $2.1 I would have folded (I never cross the line).

He had K7. Not unexpected amongst these folks, and his line really looked like trips to me.

I still hate your underbetting, and always will. I also hate your reasoning for it. Just to remind you...
