Default ATTN: Movie buffs - Should I take this hedge on Jamie Foxx?

I bet $1740 at -1200 on Foxx to win best actor. But now I see Pinnacle has +1339 on Foxx to lose. So if I bet $130 on Foxx to lose, I would win $15 if he wins, and win 70 cents if he loses. This is what a sports bettor dreams about, a foolproof hedge. Guaranteed money.

But is Foxx such a lock to win that I shouldn't bother?

From all the research Ive done, hes quite possibly the biggest lock in the history of the Oscars. In fact, if he loses, their could quite possibly be some large racial responses, not to mention the fact that most people of every race and intelligence thinks he should win. He has already won every major award already given for best actor. I think you should get as much money possible on Jamie Foxx, hedging would be highly -EV, of course just in my opinion.

I wouldn't ask a movie buff about gambling, though. Most of them will just whine about how Sideways didn't win.

I don't really know a lot about betting in general, but what is the point in placing a bet if one just cancels out the other?

So you can win $15 for wagering > $1800? Sounds pointless.

Read my post again, they don't cancel out eachother.

I don't know how big of a sports bettor you are. I'm not at all, so I don't see how someone could actually place a bet at -1200 for that much money.

I wipe my ass with $1740. $1840 if I've had chili.

No, really, I'm a pretty serious sports bettor, it's about 20% of my income.

I don't know much about sports betting or bets of this nature, but I am a movie buff. I will warn you that Jamie Foxx is the favorite, but is by no means a lock to win. Two years ago, Daniel Day Lewis in Gangs of New York and Jack Nicholson were the 2 favorites to win, but the academy did something odd and gave best actor to Adrien Brody. He was probably third as far as the 5 nominees go, but honsetly Daniel Day Lewis should have won easily.

I would say Jamie Foxx is a little better than 50-50 to win. Maybe 55-45 or 60-40. In my opinion "the other black guy" Don Cheadle should win it, but he is probably the biggest longshot.
