Default Hypocracy at the Borgata (at least some of its customers)

"Borgata is waging battle of the bulge
Policy limits weight of cocktail servers"

http://tinyurl.com/3mu48

My favorite quote:

"Borgata gamblers also criticized the weight policy, but said it wasn't egregious enough for them to take their business to another casino.

<font color="blue">"I don't think it's fair to put this type of pressure on the women,"</font> said Tom Devine, of Las Vegas. <font color="red">"But at the same time, I've got to admit that I wouldn't want to see a 200-pound woman walking around in these sexy costumes. That would be a turnoff.</font>"

Appreciate the honesty, Tom, but which statement is full of crap?
"It's bad, but do it anyway"?

Gotta love men. Of course, if women subject themselves to the uniform and expectations of a job, are they blameless?

Let the battle begin....

They should have the right to maintain an attractive staff, but their methodolgy is poor. This policy is just going to cause resentment in their staff and the quality of service will suffer. I think people would rather be served a drink by someone who is 5 pounds overweight than someone who is bitchy because they hate their employer.

They could be a little more moderate with the policy. they should allow for some kind of warning system or grace period. reserving the right to throw someone onto the curb for gaining 7-8 pounds is kind of harsh IMO.

they don't fire people, they supend them.

[ QUOTE ]
The new policy applies to anyone who gains more than 7 percent of their body weight.

[/ QUOTE ]

[ QUOTE ]
During suspensions, the company will pay to put the offending employee through a weight-loss program, and he or she will continue to have free access to the casino's spa. Those who can't shed the weight after 90 days will be dismissed, Fireman said.

Women who get pregnant or have a medical condition can remain overweight, but on the job must wear a specially designed "transitional" costume that consists of a strapless halter-style knit top and Capri-style pants, she said

[/ QUOTE ]

This is a lucrative job, and the women and men effected by these policies are aware that their physical appearance is why they got the job. It is hypocritical for those employees to suggest that their failure to maintain their physical appearance should not be a basis for their continued employment. Would there be an outrage if this were the policy of a adult entertainment club?

Default aarrrrarrrAAAGGHHHH!!!

"and the women and men effected by these policies "

AFFECTED, damn you! affect is the action, effect is the result!

(damn, that drives me crazy)

"Would there be an outrage if this were the policy of a adult entertainment club? "

Is the Borgata saying that they are hiring strippers? Oh wait, I forgot about the calendar- never mind.

Shouldn't DeNiro and the "Casino" people be suing for copywrite infringement?

It's a very fair policy, after all the Borgata girls are the best reason for me to go there
