Default Long streak with no playable hands?

Starting last night on party and extending into lunch today at Poker Stars I had 220 hands of which only 2 were playable playing tight. I was down about 15BB(15$) at the end of it. I analyzed where I lost the money and my play seemed to get worse the further into the streak. I was playing Q9 and K3 offsuit when I finally just quit. How do you guys deal with this?

Try to find someone to chat with while playing, surf the web, whatever.

Better than getting a bunch of great hands rivered and losing 3x as much.

What Beavis said. Hell, I'd much rather sit tight and lose some blinds than go chasing hands I shouldn't be playing and throwing money away.

Now, of course, it would be nice if I had the discipline to follow my own advice...

Is it normal for great hands to get rivered? I mean, I have no problem with them calling me down with the worst hand, but I just hate to see them call me down with Ace high, only to hit it on the river, or to see them catch runner-runner straights and flushes. It really gets irritating. Is that normal?

In a word? Yes.

Playing micro limits, you see an awful lot of loose players who will call down to the river with ace high. I had a fish in one game that called down to the river three hands in a row with nothing but a king high! These are the guys who pump up our bankrolls. Sure, it's frustrating when they suck out on you, but in the long run, you WANT them making plays like that against you.

I normally have the laptop up and running and the tv on in the background. If the game gets cold I watch the WPT reruns for the buh-zillionth time.

Otherwise I'll open a couple other tables and datamine, look for other LP-P's I like to be on the same table with, and I also work on improving my hand reading skills by watching how others bet and what they turn over or I see on the HH.

Overall, if you cannot keep from chasing bad hands because you're getting bored, close it out and go chase momma!

i play too loose, so times like that, the optimist in me looks at it like i'm effortlessly lowering my VP$IP and raising my TAG-quotient.

If I get nothing to play within three orbits I usually leave. If the table is very, very good then I'll stay for the duration (1 hour or so) and multi-table. I've gone an entire week at times with cold cards. You just need the discipline to not push with junk hands.
