Default Flop nut straight w/flush draw on the board -- did he do it right?

This hand involves a friend of mine and an unknown villian on the Party NL$50 tables. I said I thought he had two basic options -- hit the flop for a pot-sized bet (give or take a few bucks each way), or check and be prepared to either bet the turn no matter what, knowing he may have to FOLD if villian fired back at him hard.

My personal preference would be to bet the flop, but I'm interested in input from you all... How would you handle the flop, and if you chose to check, the turn?

If you're even tied for the pot on the turn (and not losing)he's probably freerolling.

Bet the pot on the flop.

Bet 4 on the flop. Would've folded to his re-raise on the turn and cried.

Edit- 4 is wrong, I think that pot is better, it's just a ridiculously draw heavy board.

Betting the pot on the flop is a really standard play. Obviously you don't want him to hit his flush draw and win the pot. That being said, winning the $6 pot on the flop is much better than letting him see his flush card for free and then losing any more money.

Winning the pot right then and there is MUCH better than checking and letting him hit his flush for free. You lose SO many Sklansky bucks.

Really horribly played by hero IMO.

Bet pot on flop. On turn, either smooth call or fold. Folding isn't a bad option.

Why is the hero pushing after all those raises on the turn? The best he can hope for is a split pot, and I would say he is up against the flush a very very good percentage of the time here. If not, like Kaz said, his opponent most likely has a freeroll. Way, way, way -EV play by hero.

I think this is a pretty clear place where you have to bet at least the pot on the flop. Your opponent may have a set or two pair or a pair and a flush draw or a pair and a straight draw. He will call a large bet with these hands. And your hand is the nuts but seriously in danger, so try to get as much money in on the flop as possible.

No one will call that, so that doesn't get ANY money in on the flop.
