Miekebnehtbtirtiwitz is a douche. He was on the team for like 3 months. damn what a tool. If there is anyone on that team that shouldn't have that ball its him.

HELL YEAH!!!

That ball is potentially worth millions and he's a midseason acquisition without long standing ties. If they (or anyone else) want it, write him a check.

"I know this ball has a lot of sentimental value," Mientkiewicz said. "I hope I don't have to use it for the money. It would be cool if we have kids someday to have it stay in our family for a long time. But I can be bought. I'm thinking, there's four years at Florida State for one of my kids. At least."

I agree but what are the legal ramifications.
Who owns the ball?. It is the property of MLB isnt it?

If he and his agents/attorneys are smart they'll "loan" it to the red sox to display (like a lot of the stuff at the HOF) and craft a contract so that he retains ownership rights but the ball is still shared with the public.

The Red Sox organization has many more millions than this guy, if they think the ball should belong to them, they should pay him.

Surely there must be some sort of legal precedent as to who owns the ball in these situations. Right now it's a possession is 9/10ths precedent.

This guy is a jackoff. To even have that thought run through his head of "not letting go of the ball" during the midst of celebrating on the field, interviews, and locker room champagne madness he is a complete clown.

Have some pride for the team giving you some rare PT. In fact, I dont even care what happens to the ball but no price would be worth that embaressment and disgrace to your teammates as what he put himself through in the last couple of days.

Not a lawyer, but as I understand it, no. The things in the HoF are either donations or on loan.

The Red Sox are already claiming they "own" the ball, so expect to hear the real lawyers opinions soon.
