even if the small blind was on a steal did you really want to be making a stand with k8? could have waited til the next hand and pushed. Or when you were button? I've found that in these situations waiting til u have the initiative seems to be more effective. Or if wanted to play the hand why not push preflop?

You should fold this preflop because you have a junk hand and you don't want to be getting involved with the big stack when you have an excellent stealing oppurtunity coming up against the shortstack.

At least that's what I look to do when I'm short/mid-stacked in the $11s.

I like your play here, I think you got unlucky against a very poor play. You called a min-raise from a pretty obvious steal position from the chip leader. The extra 100 doesn't cripple you, and you can get away from it easily if the flop misses you. If this hand had been submitted by the SB, and he hadn't drew an ace (much less two) everyone would be criticizing him for min-raising and giving a hand like K8s a reason to see a flop. His flop bet is worse, if he was going to bet that much without hitting the flop, he should have done it pre-flop. You have to have been pretty comfortable with the 8 high flop, more so than a K high flop. At the time that the chips went into the middle you had a 78.7% chance of becoming the chip leader.

1. Big stacks who want to steal your BB from the SB raise more than the minimum. I would be very suspicious of this raise, particularly if his normal raise is more than 2XBB.

2. Calling a raise from the BB is your worst option in a SNG when a call is 10% of your stack. You are in 10XBB territory. If you have a hand good enough to play, raise all in. If you don't fold. K8 not good enough

As I said, if he normally raises more, I become suspicious.

If he is a chronic min-raiser, it changes the dynamic. I still believe calling a raise is never the right play in a SNG when you have less than 10XBB.
