Default Learning a new language

Hey all,
I'm planning on moving to Brazil for a year in a couple months. I'm looking into learning Portuguese before I get there and am curious what the best way is. I learned French through years of being in French/English school, but I was looking for a faster way. Anyone know any good books/websites/courses I can to help me learn as much of this language as possible. I googled it and found numerous sites and books, just curious if anyone has a good experience with any of these products?
thanks
Malone

immersion, I've heard, IS the fastest way to learn. When you can only order 1 piece of crap meal due to lang. barriers, you learn FAST
