Default Definition of \"Muck.\"

muck (noun)

excrement: dung, cowpat, cowpie, cowplop, meadow muffin, manure, muck
refuse: dust, muck, debris, slag, clinker, dross, scoria, scum, dirt
dirt: crud, guck, goo, gunk, muck, mud, sludge, slime.

Ahhh..., the reality of a truly, "Mucked," Poker hand. I've had many hands like that.

Default Re: Definition of \"Muck.\"

Those are defs for the noun, but what we use in poker is the verb form - which means, as we use it, to cover our discards with muck (dirt, excrement, etc). In other words, before laying down our losing/uncalled cards, we spread a little sheat on them to hide what they are. This terminology reflects the fact that our opponents CAN still view the cards if they wish, but they must go the extra step of wiping the muck off them first.
