Default 87s, play it UTG? 2/4 commerce

today at commerce, 2/4$ 9 handed. my last hand before i was going to leave that table before i was BB. I got 8s7s UTG and folded, and i knew a raise was unlikely, about every fourth or fifth hand we would see a raise, other than that the table was almost all weak-passive calling stations. edit: about 5-6 seemed to be the average amount people per in on each hand
was this the right play? are middle suited connectors worth playing UTG if you dont expect to be raised? any help/commenct would be appreciated, thanks

I think folding is fine and that, under the table conditions you describe, calling would be okay too.

I probably play 98s and 87s a little more than I should, though.

Given your read at the table, 87s is definitely playable from all positions, but I don't think you're losing much mucking it UTG.
