Default Tournament Team Play

In a home Omaha/8 limit $60 no rebuy 24 player tourny I made the final table. There were three players who were close friends and would not bet/raise each other. This was more than obvious as repeatedly they would bet/raise till only these 2 or 3 were left in hand, then they would turn hands up and say "no more bets, burn and turn the rest of the board".They finished 1,2&3.(me 4th).It payed 5 places so I got $240.

I feel their play was unethical or may be considered cheating.Am I right or is it just sour grapes?

betting benny,

You could be right. Why don't you write a specific example?

Anyway, I would avoid playing in this tournament for the future.

Good Luck

Mark

I'm stuck in Virginia so it's the old "only game in town" thing.

Softplaying each other is bad in a cash game, and even worse in tournaments. I would never play in a tournament again if this happened. To play like this is in effect collusion in an attempt to eliminate you before they start playing hard for the top 3 places.

I would complain to the tournament organiser and ask that they be given a time penalty if they refuse to play against each other again. Turning the cards over and asking the rest to be dealt without any more betting is an offense that many tournaments would disqualify players for.

Of course you're right. This allows the small stack to survive which is advatageous in a percentage payback tournament.

I play in central Va. area. The offending players were the tournament organizers so no help there.
