How common is the Brown Trout "code"? I am assuming that when I pose the question "Where does the brown trout sleep?", that other 2+2ers at the table will respond. Am I correct? Just curious. Please stay, WrongForumGuy.

I wish it were less common. In fact I wish it would go away altogether. I would prefer a more subtle code. Talking in obvious code scares the fishies.
Something like, "Party Poker (or whatever site you're on) is rigged" followed by an answer by the other 2+2er of "and the rake is too high" would be much better. |

Some 2+2ers now use, "sup bro" as the greeting instead of the trout line.

I think I prefer, "My eyes are burning!" with the response, "Make the pain stop"

I'd be all for a new, less obviously code, code. Nominations with a poll to follow? Also, when, and why, do you trout?

I vote for the James Bond code phrase from "You Only Live Twice"
James Bond: "If you're Tanakan how do you feel about me?" Tiger Tanaka: "Why I... love you." |

Um. Yeah. That doesn't sound like a code. Also, "Sup bro" only isn't weird if you or someone else just sat down. In keeping with a fish theme, at the end of hand you fold the river you could say, "To bad there's no lake card." Or perhaps for a different direction, "I missed my 1-outer."

When I get complimented, or berated or otherwise solicited, I'll usually fire off an "I play g00t" or "I like to GAMBOOL!!" This has been an instant tell to other 2+2'ers.

That's not bad, but I really don't get cussed at that much. Maybe once on one table a night. Maybe I've been lucky.

At random times I might also fire off a "GAMBOOL!!"
