Default 1-2 NL at the Borgata...

This was a hand that I was just thinking of. This was a while back, my first time playing a NL ring in a casino. I sit down with $120 (think it's a $200 max). This hand comes up as my second hand at the table, and I'm UTG. So this means that not only do I have virtually NO info on the other players, I am also first to act, and have no info about their hands. Anyway...

Dealt two red kings UTG. I raise to ten. Three callers. (I will note here that I normally find 1-2 NL players in casinos to be the worst of the worst. I'd usually find less callers for and UTG raise in 3-6 or 5-10.) The flop comes down Kc-Qc-6c. I lead out for $30, hoping to push out weak flush draws (I know now that flush draws would still have correct odds to call for this bet. If I indeed wanted to shut out any draws, I should have gone all in to begin with). It's raised to $80 in next seat. Guy behind her says, "Hmm, do you have the flush, or are you just drawing," and calls. I put him on a big ace with a big draw. He calls. Other PF caller folds. Back to me. I push the rest of my chips in, probably more in desperation than trying to scare anyone out of the pot. UTG+1 thinks for a minute and calls, as does UTG+3.

Thoughts, flames? Results below in white.

<font color="white"> Knowing I may be in trouble, I pray for a paired board. The turn brings a blank. UTG+1 bets big, UTG+3 thinks a while, makes another comment about a flush draw, and calls. Another blank on the river, UTG+1 fires again and UTG+3 calls. As he calls he says, "Do you have the flush? Because I do..." he flips over a 2c-5c! He called a ten dollar bet with this. She flips over Ac-3c, at best arguably marginal hand, but I believe a very weak, loose call for 5xBB. I lose all of my money very stupidly in my second hand at the table.

Well I guess I will flame... This is your second hand at the table... How could you put anyone on a hand... unless you were watching the table for a long time... You have to fold when you are raised here... you just don't have enough information about the players at the table.

No, do not fold top set multiway for $120 at 1-2. Just don't do it. Scotty O's advice is just godawful.

he is getting close to odds to call if they both turn over flushes, and for $120 in that game, he may well be ahead. folding here is awful. calling is slightly less awful. pushing is goot.

Pushing is goot indeed, don't be results oriented.

That's exactly how I would have played it, led out at the flop to charge any four card flush draws, and to also gain info. Although its pretty obvious he has the flush unless he is making a real bold play with the naked ace of spades. Even knowing he has the flush, its still a call since the pot is $190, once you move in your remaining $80 which you know will be called if he has the flush, you are getting 270:80 odds on your money, or about 3.5:1. You will win 40% of the time, so your play is +EV. As someone else said, don't feel bad about results, you played it right...

I'd raise it up more on the flop. Other than that it looks good. No way could you get me to fold this.

Congrats. Your bad beat story was accepted as a hand. Just kidding. That's a tough spot. I just had the same flop decision with A's.

Considering your stack size, pushing the flop when it's back to you with callers with you having 9 outs to the river is the only way to go.

One thing you have to realize about baby nl cash games is that 5X the big blind is not a big raise. In a tournement that would seem a big raise but a ten dollar bet is still just ten bucks and many people will call that with marginal hands. Bet out twenty bucks preflop and youre more likely to get head up with one player and have your Ks hold up.
