Default Was lost on this one

Early in a $5.50 SNG on Stars. No real read on villian. So far he's been a bit aggressive postflop, winning one or two pots uncontested. I haven't seen him make any insane calls yet, so I wasn't too sure how to read his preflop cold-call or his flop call. What do you do on the nightmare turn?

The flop bet is a bit enthusiastic, I'd rather make it 200. I can live with 300 though.

As for the turn... ugh. You said your opponent was aggressive, right? In that case I guess I'll check, otherwise I'd be worried about a free card. I hope to exert my Jedi powers on the opponent's delay, bet amount etc and figure out what he has. The alternative of betting allin I don't think is that bad either but it just feels a little reckless.

I overbet the pot because I wanted to chase out a flush draw. His flat call scared me, though.

You'll find flush draws will generally take one off anyway. It's true that means you make more chips in equity, but I think you may be paying it back in overcommittment to the pot.

So typically it would be better to stick with a 2/3 pot bet against potential flush draws?

Anyway, I'm really looking for help on the turn in this hand..

Bet 500 on the turn.
If you check any half decent player will take the pot from you, flush or no flush.

Nice point (about the check).

But why bet 500, which is as good as all in, won't 300 serve just as well and you'll still have a stack if he goes all in (and you decide he does have the flush)? As at this point I'd have thought that he'll either give it up or go all in.

You'd think that, but mostly they don't. People are too scared to slam their stacks in the middle there without a solid hand.

Betting 500 is as good as going allin, if they raise allin are you really going to fold?
