I know there are people who belive in this "word for word" stuff but the figure is surprisingly high. How can the most technologically advanced nation the world has ever seen be so blind to reason? |

I didn't see the location of the calls. In a religious survey like this, I think geography and demographics are huge.

If you really believe god is 'all powerfull' then a virgin birth isn't really a stretch is it?
I gave up on christianity when i was 18, but i don't think this is the best means and direction for attacking it. It has many other problems. Why are you such a hater anyway? |

whats your problem? Why does someones faith scare you? Its called faith for a reason. [/ QUOTE ] It scares me because it is unreasonable. Im not trying to attack Christianity. I just think it is unhealthy that such a large part of the US population is so blind in their faith. Looking at the myth metaphorically it is, for me, spot on but believing that a child was concieved without sperm is just ignorance. I really see no diffence between this and having faith that we did not evolve from "monkeys"; or that the world is flat. It scares me because 79% is such a majority. Of course the polling must have been flawed because I have to much faith in y'all. |

fair enough, but I am willing to bet those 79% that believe the story to be true, also believe in modern science. Its faith man, there is really no way to describe how people believe it to be true, they just do. I don't think that means they are closed minded, or unitelligent, they just happen to believe something.

for me, spot on but believing that a child was concieved without sperm is just ignorance. [/ QUOTE ] To deny that it's possible for a chlid to be concieve without sperm is to deny the existence of god. As an athiest that's easy for you to do. What would be the point of doing so for a christian? |
